Boring Bars

A Boring Bar is a cutting tool used in CNC lathes and turning centers to enlarge and finish pre-drilled or cast holes with high precision. Unlike drilling, which creates holes from solid, boring refines the diameter, roundness, concentricity, and surface finish of existing holes. Boring bars can also be used for internal profiling and internal grooving.

Features :

  • Shank Types: Steel, carbide-reinforced, or solid carbide (for rigidity)
  • Clamping Systems: Screw clamp, lever lock, wedge clamp
  • Coolant Options: Through-tool coolant for improved chip evacuation and tool life
  • Insert Compatibility: Accepts a wide range of ISO-standard inserts (e.g., CCMT, DCMT, VBMT)
  • Reach-to-Diameter Ratio: Deep boring applications may require vibration-damped or carbide shank bars
